MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART SAN DIEGO ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR WALLS

Opportunity for downtown building owners to be a part of the exhibition Viva la Revolución: A Dialogue with the Urban Landscape

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is looking for sites in the downtown San Diego area that can be used by artists -- featured in the upcoming exhibition Viva la Revolución: A Dialogue with the Urban Landscape -- to create murals and other site-specific works on building walls.

This is the public's chance to experience the art of renowned, international artists as well as contribute to the enhancement of San Diego's urban landscape.

By submitting a site for consideration, individuals acknowledge that they are giving permission for these projects to take place on the structure specified. MCASD's curatorial team will choose the final site selections from the submissions; submission does not guarantee selection. MCASD will contact site owners directly (please do not contact the Museum regarding the status of submissions).

All submissions must be sent to walls@mcasd.org, with the subject line "Viva Murals".

What to submit:

* Image of the structure (i.e. wall, building, etc.)
* Location/address of the site
* Approximate dimensions (length, height, width)
* Name of building owner
* Contact information for owner (phone number and e-mail address)

Submissions must include all of the above information to be considered.

Artists featured in the exhibition, which opens July 18 at MCASD Downtown, are Akay (Sweden), Banksy (U.K.), Blu (Italy), Mark Bradford (U.S.), William Cordova (U.S.), Date Farmers (U.S.), Stephan Doitschinoff [CALMA] (Brazil), Dr. Lakra (Mexico), Dzine (U.S.), David Ellis (U.S.), FAILE (U.S.), Shepard Fairey (U.S.), Invader (France), JR (France), Barry McGee (U.S.), Ryan McGinness (U.S.), Moris (Mexico), Os Gemeos (Brazil), Swoon (U.S.), and Vhils (Portugal).

THE BEST PERSON TO MARKET: YOURSELF

0 comments

In harsh economic times we forget the simplicity of being able to relax, and think of a plan of action. Times like a Cambridge euphemism are narky, and jobs are scarce, unemployment is on the rise, and your competition is yourself. How does one separate him/her self from the pack of hungry wolves in a job market? Look no further I present youtube resumes. viral marketing with a personal touch and visual flair. I wonder how many companies would prefer a youtube resume over a standard paper resume? Just make sure you don't market yourself to companies like the guy in the video above.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS ?: CRICKET COMMUNICATIONS

0 comments

East Village Promotions specializes in Brand Promotion and strategic Buzz Marketing programs in the Downtown San Diego area.

To put your brand asset on the radar of your core audience can take either finesse or brute force advertising, depending on who they are and where you target them. We work closely with clients to customize a campaign that clearly identifies the target demographic as well as the most effective way to engage them.

Next, we shape and manage consumer perceptions in the marketplace as your brand continues to grow. We create and nurture brand loyalty. We do this for our clients' brands locally, regionally and nationally. Get on the radar!

We also keep an eye on local advertising that we think is very effective. Such as the cricket communications new nationwide coverage advertising campaign. You may have seen the above advertisement on the streets of San Diego, we sure did. Not only does this catch the eye of the potential consumer,but also reaches the consumer indirectly. Just another great example of effective low cost ad campaigns. - E.hill

SUNDAY TIMES: LA PEURTA

0 comments

On a Sunday afternoon the East Village promotions staff decide to venture to La Puerta. This was our first time in the gaslamp establishment, but not our last. We were promptly greeted by one of the employees Kamil he stated, "what better way to enjoy a Sunday with a everything being half off on the menu". That moment we understood why the establishment was almost a full capacity, it was due to the relaxed presence of the employees and patrons. To my surprise what I thought was an an i pod playing, was actually a house DJ named "DJ Who". The meal we ordered was a generous plate of carne asada fries, that was worth the half price of $5.75. We talked to the patrons to see what they thought of La Puerta. We came across a group of friends that had nothing but good this to say " we come here all the time, and we love it", was the reverberated opine. Our mission at East village Promotions is to put a spotlight on the establishments, that are making downtown San Diego a staple of excellence. With that said, our good time came to a total of $30.00 for the entire staff of 3. We proceeded to make sure we visit , and spread the word to potential consumers that are unaware. We only see good things for this establishment in the future, if your looking for good time and a "mexperience", visit La Puerta that is serving food until 1AM seven nights a week!- B. Rose

STAFF PICK OF THE WEEK : NEIGHBORHOOD

0 comments

As I sit at the bar of Neighborhood, I am immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. She continues her polite introduction, of what would turn out to be a great experience. Neighborhood located in the heart of the east village, is a unique establishment. The ambiance of Neighborhood is a far cry from your local dive bar. As patrons discuss the days events, an amazing smell of food permeates from the kitchen. I'm told by the hostess that "we have over 27 microbrews on tap, what would you like"? My choice was a local brew "The Lost Abbey's 'The Angel's Share", and I ordered the "Jalapeno mac and cheese". As I waited for my order I sipped my brew, as different genres of music enter my earlobe. You can tell from the capacity that this was a happening spot, but what was the attraction? As soon as that thought is diminished my order of "jalapeno mac and cheese" is placed in front of me. Each bite was great, such a simple dish was prepared and presented with perfection. The sounds of laughter and a general good time, was the vibe circling around my presence. After I finished my meal and brew I paid my bill to the smiling waitress, with the thought of returning soon. - K.SHAW
